Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long is the ride?
A: Your sightseeing adventure lasts about 60 minutes. If you have pre-purchased tickets for a specific departure time, please arrive no later than 15 minutes in advance to allow time for boarding your Duck.

Q: Do I need reservations?
A: Yes - but specific departure times are not guaranteed.

Q: When are Duck rides available?
A: Anytime between April and December, seven days a week. Departure times vary somewhat throughout the season, based on guest demand. During the peak season (May to October) our sightseeing adventures depart about every 30 to 45 minutes, as soon as a load of guests are ready to go, we roll. During less busy times of the year, departure times are scheduled.

Q: Does it really go in the water?
A: Yes! Ducks are amphibious vehicles that were designed for use during World War II to transport troops and supplies from ship to shore. Every Ride The Ducks sightseeing adventure includes a cruise on Table Rock Lake.

Q: Will I get wet?
A: Possibly. Water entries vary from mild to wild, based on the guests aboard, the conditions of the water, and the temperature outside. Most of the water that is thrown in the air during a Duck-style splashdown goes out and away from the vehicle. Depending on where you are seated, you may get a light spray or some water on your seat. Feel free to let your Captain know if you especially want to get wet or stay dry. Your wishes can usually be accommodated.

Q: Should I bring my camera?
A: Absolutely! Ducks offer a wonderful, elevated view of the sights of Branson. And you will definitely want to capture the panoramic vista you'll enjoy from the top of Baird Mountain. It?s the highest peak in the area (1,400 feet high) with a view of the spectacular Ozark mountains and beautiful Table Rock Lake.

Q: Are there restrooms on board a Duck?
A: Sorry. We do not have restrooms on board the Duck vehicles, but there are ample restrooms conveniently located on both floors of our departure facility known as Duck Central or the Duck Dock.

Q: Can I take food and drink on board?
A: Yes. You are welcome to bring snacks and beverages along on your ride. Duck Central has a snack bar and a bulk candy shop on property. So your hunger, thirst and sweet tooth can all be satisfied right here, either before or after your ride!

Q: Are you handicapped accessible?
A: Partially. We have elevator access to our boarding ramp so that climbing stairs can be avoided. If bookings are made less than 72 hours in advance as noted in the underlined text below, we suggest that all passengers have sufficient mobility and/or upper body strength to facilitate their own movement into a bench-style seat. We do have accommodations for wheelchairs on board the Duck vehicles, but only for limited departure times (earliest of the day, latest of the day) and a minimum of 72 hours advance booking is necessary, as well as a required telephone follow-up at least 48 hours in advance of the tour departure date.

Q: One Last Question? Why should we Ride The Ducks?
A: Ride The Ducks is the "Best Show On Wheels...And Water!" Seniors enjoy the nostalgia of the vehicles, the historical information about the area and the relaxing cruise on Lake Taneycomo. Children and teens love quacking along, laughing at the Captain's jokes and crazy antics and especially the driving splashdown into the lake. Everyone loves seeing the best of Branson in a fun and informative way. Quite frankly you'll get a lot of Duck for your buck, and a very memorable experience, all in just 60 minutes.

Duck History

So, you think riding a DUCK is a new experience? Well, actually, riding Ducks began during World War II. While today's Duck-riding experience is intended to thrill and entertain, the Ducks of yesteryear were conceived primarily for use in the expeditions of cargo from ships. Better uses for these vehicles soon elevated them from general cargo handlers to critical elements of many battle plans. Once the Ducks' years of wartime service ended, they were retained for civilian uses. In later years, the original Ducks were modified and once again put to important use as unique, entertaining, and very successful transportation devices for American tourists.

The Ducks used on our Ducks Tours have a rich wartime history. The name Duck was adapted from General Motors' vehicle identification, DUKW, a special code that denoted the year of design (1942), Amphibian type of vehicle with front and rear wheel drive. Over 4,500 vehicles were manufactured in 1943 and over 11,000 in 1944. When production stopped in 1945, the total Duck production had reached over 21,000 units. Of all the devices designed for amphibious warfare, the DUKW was the most successful.

On May 17, 1996, the United States Coast Guard approved for service the first "Stretch Duck."

Hotel pick-up or drop-off is not included. Specific tour departure times are not guaranteed. Child rate applies to children ages 4 to 12. Children under 4 may ride for free. Please reserve online, or call us toll-free at 888-840-8485.
