Jim Owen
You may know Jim Owen as the man who wrote "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man," but Jim's background is much more diversified. He composes songs that have been recorded by some of country music's legends, and has worked in film, radio, as well as on stage.
Jim wrote and stared in a one-man, hour long television special on Hank Williams, Sr. that won an award as the best show of the year on public television. Part of his live stage show is a tribute to Hank. Close your eyes and you can feel Hank is on stage performing for you.
Among the stars Jim has written hits for are Mel Tillis, Jim Ed Brown, Crystal Gayle, Jerry Reed, Roy Clark, Moe Bandy, and many others. His most noted song, "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man," was performed by Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn. Jim makes music come alive. His rendition of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" is incredible.
Every year, Jim creates a brand new show from scratch. He gives tribute to country greats throughout the show, and every year has a tribute to one of country's finest stars. Sunshine Express, Jim's female backup trio, doesn't just hide in the background, but performs magnificently on their own. His band, The Last Cowboy Band, is a fabulous traditional country band (drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, violin, and a steel guitar).
